Child Safety Standards

Oorsee – South Africans Abroad, published by Oorsee Pty Ltd, has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE).

Our standards

These standards apply to the Oorsee app on Android and iOS and to oorsee.com. They form part of our Acceptable Use Policy.

Oorsee is a community for adults and is not directed at children. On Oorsee you must not:

  • create, upload, share, request or link to child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, including drawn, edited or AI-generated material;
  • sexualise a minor in posts, comments, photos, videos, reels, messages, events, business pages or profiles;
  • groom, contact, or attempt to meet a minor for a sexual purpose, or use Oorsee to arrange this;
  • sextort, threaten or coerce anyone to obtain sexual images of a minor;
  • traffic, advertise or solicit minors for any sexual or exploitative purpose.

How to report

In the app: tap the ··· menu on any post and choose Report post. You can also block any member from their profile or from a chat, which stops them contacting you.

By email: send details of a member, message, photo or anything else on Oorsee to sphyffer@icloud.com, with “Child safety” in the subject line. Please include the member’s name or a link or screenshot, but do not forward or send us abuse images.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police first. You can also report CSAM to the NCMEC CyberTipline or the Internet Watch Foundation.

What we do

  • Child safety reports are reviewed ahead of all other reports.
  • Content that breaks these standards is removed, and the account responsible is permanently banned.
  • We report child sexual abuse material and exploitation to the relevant authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement, as required by applicable law.
  • We keep the information needed for an investigation and co-operate with law enforcement requests.

Compliance with the law

Oorsee Pty Ltd complies with child safety laws in the countries where Oorsee is available, including laws requiring the reporting of child sexual abuse material.

Child safety contact

Oorsee’s designated contact for child safety, who can speak to our CSAE prevention practices and compliance, is reachable at sphyffer@icloud.com.
